Great 1st night party - I really enjoyed reconnecting, meeting good friends and making new friends. Lovely to have three new songsters come along for a trial night - welcome to Heather, Chris & Liz.
And welcome to four new ukuleles (belonging to Carmel, Jay Be, Laurel, Stuart) - seems like we're breeding them!
Thanks to you all for coming and bringing such a great energy and gorgeous sound. Lovely to have the vibe in our home!
1. LAST NIGHT'S FUN
I will email choir members with the Finale files for the two songs we sang last night - "Let It Go" and "Thuma Mina". If you haven't got Finale and would like to, please email me for more info.
2. CONDUCTOR'S MASTERCLASS
The Australian Voices are running their brilliant Conductors Masterclass again on Sat 4-Sun 5 Feb at the Qld Conservatorium, South Bank.
Laurel is keen to participate (GO LAUREL!!!) and she would like to know if other Freedom Train-stars would be going too. Visit this link for more info: http://www.theaustralianvoices.com/conductors-masterclass/
3. PRIVATE BRIAN MARTIN WORKSHOP
I am planning that we will run our own "community choir masterclass" with the wonderful Brian Martin in March. Brian has been running choirs in communities for at least 20 years and has so much knowledge to share. For more info about Brian visit: http://brianmartinmusic.com.au/
4. STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
For the women of Freedom Train, there is an exciting opportunity for us as a female voice choir to record one song (or maybe two) for an album project called "Strength to Strength" featuring women's voices and stories, produced by Beenleigh Neighbourhood Centre & 4EB radio station. I am thinking of us doing a version of "Refugee (Have Mercy)".
5. NEXT MONDAY @ TALBARRA, 5:45-8pm
See you next Monday at Talbarra RSL Care for a more formal evening but still serious fun! Bring your water bottle and plenty of sparkly singingness.
I am so looking forward to a fabulous Freedom Train ride in 2012!!
